As someone who believes in taking control of my life, I've found that starting my mornings on my own terms sets me up for success. While we can't always control what happens in life, we can control how we react to it. And for me, that means taking care of myself both physically and mentally.
One of the ways I prioritize my well-being is by hitting the gym. Sure, it helps me build physical strength, but it's also a way for me to build mental toughness. My mind often wants to give up before my body does, so every set becomes a test of my mental strength. Pushing through those moments of discomfort at the gym also helps me de-stress and maintain a sense of calm throughout the day.
Recently, I've been focused on leveling up in all areas of my life - from my mindset to my physique to my overall health. And while I'm not quite where I want to be yet, I'm proud of the progress I've made.
I know that there are people out there who have certain advantages - whether it's better genetics, more money, or more time - but I truly believe that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. And in the end, the only competition we truly have is ourselves. We need to be willing to try new things, fail, and be comfortable with discomfort if we want to become the best versions of ourselves.
When it comes to training, I've always been fascinated by the quote, "The iron doesn't lie." It's always just as heavy, and how the session goes is a complete mirror of everything that's going on inside of you. I recently did a leg day with a focus on quads, and let me tell you, it was intense. But that's the point - to challenge yourself and become stronger, both physically and mentally.
Of course, working smart is just as important as working hard. I've learned that it's important to rest and recharge before burning out, focus on progress rather than outcomes, and always be a student. And let's not forget about the importance of spending time outside and getting enough sleep.
And remember, the only person you're truly competing against is yourself.
